Saw these beautifully fascinating, self-proclaimed VEGANS today while exploring Charlottesville. Erik and Mutt travel the U.S, camping at night, and living a simple life (by choice.)
They travel, finding friends along the way, odd jobs here and there, and making music for some extra funds. Mutt was a model and actress for a while, but she wanted to explore the country. Erik is from Houston and says his next tattoo is going to be on the side of his face. Both are promoters of Anarchy.
To a lot of people, these two look trashy.
Dirty. Not worth giving a second thought about. Emma and I stopped to just compliment the music, and ended up being able to share the love of Jesus with two wandering souls.
Whether you agree with people’s opinions or lifestyles or not, it does not take that much effort to be kind and respectful to someone.
Talking to them and showing interest in who they are as fellow human beings, both created in the image of the King, shifted the course of their day and our day. They asked us to come back and hang out with them because not many people take the time to talk to them or ask them about their lives. How sad is that? Probably 100 or so people passed them on the same sidewalk we walked on, and no one took the time to show some Jesus love.
What would happen if we started ACTUALLY caring about the souls around us? What if we ACTUALLY asked people how they are doing and got down to the root of things? What would ACTUALLY happen if we obeyed the Lord’s calling on our lives to “Love the Lord,” “Love our neighbor’s,” and “Share the Gospel?”
If that’s not the life I am striving to live, then this life truly isn’t worth living. Take the time to observe those around you and build them up. We’re all in this race to the Kingdom together- let’s add a few more runners.
